Ark NE Oregon is a 501c3 not-for-profit rescue dedicated to the ethical and proper rehoming of homeless Akitas in the Pacific NW.

Our goals are Akita education first and foremost, along with promoting responsible ownership, breeding, and rescue practices. We strive to keep potential homeless Akitas in their current homes through behavior modification, health awareness, and basic breed knowledge.

ARK is a participating member of the Akita club of America. ARK was founded in 2000 by a group of concerned Akita enthusiasts after realizing the huge issue of Akita homelessness in the NW and the need for educated responsible breed rescue.

If you are considering acquiring a new companion of any breed, through rescue or a breeder, please research the breed, breeder, and rescue organization.

ARK is not a shelter. We are a breed-specific rescue dedicated to matching your needs and expectations in a companion and providing continuing support and education before and after adoption. We require home checks and have a screening process to make sure an Akita is the right choice in a companion for your home. We believe knowledgeable rescuing and placement is a team effort between adopter and rescue and a lifetime commitment by all.

Many thank yous to our supporters, volunteers and adopters!  Without you we couldn't do what we do.

Sincerely, the board of Ark NE Oregon:
